A special gift to a best friend.
Anna asked me one time if she could commission me to work on a sticker set for her best friend’s birthday. It’s to be a surprise and since I adore surprises, I jumped at the opportunity to be part of this entire scheme (also because the sticker set involved dogs).
- Client: Ms. Anna del Prado & Ms. Grazie Villegas
- Project Brief: Create a sticker set of Ms. Grazie’s dogs, Freddie & Tony! + Print out both dogs on postcards!
- Materials: Pencil & paper, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
It was such a joy to draw these two puppers! They have very distinct facial expressions & I couldn’t help but smile while sketching their faces! After sketching them both on paper & showing them to Anna, I transferred both sketches to Photoshop & I started blocking out their base colors.
I always make it a point to make my paintings have enough details – not too much, not too little. In this way, it is stylised, but not that close to realism. It holds my style of cartoonish look & composition. I tend to add lots of colors since I’ve learned from observation that one object does not have just 1 color in it. You have to take into account the bounce of light & dark to make the said object have more depth & character.
I added the toy & the simple lettering as a bonus since Anna is a good friend of mine & cause I want her best friend to be happy, too!
Printed the sticker set on satin sticker paper with pearl laminate & it was also laser cut at the printing place! I placed all contents in this envelope that I made & shipped it off to Makati!
I remember Anna & I were chatting while the package was en route to Makati! We were both extremely excited for Grazie to get her gift!
End note: She loved it & I’m so glad that she did! She also asked if I could print out some postcards of both dogs and I obliged.

Overall: I loved this project to bits! I love surprising people & painting dogs, so this was a joy to work on! 😀
