The Unseen Force

2020 was supposed to be a positively momentous year, instead, we were ravaged by a pandemic and one typhoon after another. Our daily commute to the office changed to work from home setup and classes were forced into zoom rooms. Everywhere you look, people are wearing masks and there’s but a crippling anxiety that we try to hide every single time we go outside and expose ourselves to the elements. We fear as the number of cases rises every day and the death toll shows numbers, not names.

Our little #quaranteam collaborated on all of the illustrations with Ericka or Nikka working on the sketch and I did the coloring. It was such a great little group as everyone worked together and helped each other out. By the end of this all, the illustrations were printed on newspapers & uploaded to Philippine Star’s new website.

But wait; there’s more!

Our little #quaranteam didn’t disband right after this. We were contacted again and was told that PhilStar collaborated with UNIQLO’s UT!Me for their Flagship Store’s 2nd Anniversary! Selected illustrations went straight into Uniqlo shirts and we were invited to talk live on their Facebook page – something we were quite nervous about!

Since Nikka was in Canada, she joined us over on Zoom while Ericka and I ended up going to the Uniqlo Pressroom for the live shoot! Our topic for that day was journaling. We picked this because people need an outlet now more than ever! We’re all stuck in our homes and we all don’t know when this will end.

The live aired on October 17, 2020 on Uniqlo’s Facebook Page. It was nerve-wracking and it’s definitely something out of our comfort zones, but we’re so happy that we did it! They do say, “Magic happens outside your comfort zone,” and I believe that to be true. 🙂

The three of us wanted more meaningful projects, and our prayers were heard. For this collaboration, all proceeds will go to the Natasha Goulbourn Foundation. 🙂

This was definitely a great experience and the team behind it was awesome! Thank you for the great opportunity and hoping for more meaningful projects!
